Special Teaching Methods

A few of the unique methods of teaching that are being explored and used at St. Peter's SS Bombo Kalule include the following:

    1. Blended Learning

Blended learning combines traditional classroom teaching with online learning. This approach allows students to access learning materials (like videos, e-books, and quizzes displayed on smart boards and projectors in and outside the classroom, while still benefiting from in-person interactions with teachers for discussion, clarification, and problem-solving

    2. Project-Based Learning (PBL)

This teaching method focuses on students working on real-world projects that require problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity. Instead of only memorizing facts, our students apply their knowledge of different Subjects like Chemistry, Biology, Physics and ICT to produce tangible outcomes For example: Soap making, building models, graphic and web designing).

    2. Peer Learning and Mentorship Programs

Our students teach each other under the guidance of a teacher. This is done throughlearning sessions, group work, or peer-led discussions. Mentorship programs also encourage older students and students’ leaders to guide younger ones.

    3. Use of Local Context and Cultural Resources

Our teachers are encouraged to use local knowledge, traditions, and resources in the curriculum to make lessons more relatable. This includes teaching science through examples of local plants or discussing history through local events or figures.

It brings relevance and a sense of pride to our students as they connect their learning to their cultural identity and local community. This also allows students to see how education directly relates to their daily lives.

    4. Mindfulness and Emotional Learning

Through this approach, wefocus on developing students' emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and resilience. Some of the activities conducted include guided meditations, mindfulness exercises, or discussions about mental health.

This helps us to ensure that every student can engage with the material at their level, ensuring that no one is left behind.
